Devotion for March

St. Joseph

St. Joseph Memorare
Remember, O Most Chaste Spouse of the Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, my spiritual father, and beg your protection. O foster father of the Redeemer, despise not my petition, but in thy goodness hear and answer me. Amen.

St. Joseph, Terror of Demons St. Joseph, Terror of Demons, cast your solemn gaze upon the devil and all his minions, and protect us with your mighty staff. You fled through the night to avoid the devil’s wicked designs; now, with the power of God, smite the demons as they flee from you. Grant special protection, we pray, for children, fathers, families, and the dying. By God’s grace, no demon dares approach while you are near, so we beg of you, always be near to us. Amen.

His feast day is March 19

Commemorating Memorial Day

As we commemorate Memorial Day, let us remember all those who laid down their lives for others. As we pray for all the lives lost, here is a story about one life, that of a military chaplain, who ultimately lost his life while saving others’ lives, both physically and spiritually.

Father Kapaun died on this day, May 23rd, in the year 1951.

Why our Christmas Tree is still up

Did you know that February 2, or 40 days after Christmas, is traditionally celebrated as Candlemas?

This feast commemorates the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple. In the Eastern Church, the feast is known as Hypapante, meaning “Meeting,” which highlights the encounter between the Holy Family, Saint Simeon, and the prophetess Anna, as described in Luke 2:22–38.

Prayer for Veterans

Shared by Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles

To our dear Veterans, we have not forgotten you.

Sometimes our collective recollection of your sacrifice goes into short term memory loss, but at our core, we remember. How could we not?

To give oneself to and for a higher purpose, to God and for country, is something our current world may not fully comprehend. It’s an awesome responsibility you carry.

We are called to remember, to be grateful, to live our lives in a manner that is worthy of the sacrifice you have made and freely given. You are called to form us in the ideals you embodied, to teach us the lessons you learned, to be a living example of humanity at its best.

You, more than anyone, know what it means to lay everything down for the good of another. We thank you for your service. And to you who paid the ultimate price, you remain in our prayers, may God grant you eternal rest.

Amen!

Let us pray for all our Veterans, including the many that are members of our Council.

Also, what looks like a powerful movie on Military Chaplains that came out this weekend – Fighting Spirit. Check out the trailer link below.

Thank you and God Bless!
