Our Helping Hands ministry was established in 2016 to provide handyman services for Madison elderly neighbors in need. It has evolved into primarily a medical ride service, which is a much needed service in our community. Many of the medical rides are into New Haven where we encounter many homeless people at intersections along the route. I started bringing care packages along with me to hand out to people we encountered on the streets. As the picture shows, it includes a hat, socks, bottled water, energy bar, rosary beads and rosary prayer card. Obviously, this small token will not solve the homeless problem, but it may provide a brief relief from their daily struggle, and hopefully the rosary beads and prayer card will bring them some peace. The hats have the KofC logo on them so perhaps Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly will recognize them on his way to work. 😊
