Knights volunteer with Raise the Roof

Raise the Roof, the shoreline community build organization within Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven, is currently sponsoring its 25th house at 39 Arch Street in New Haven. The volunteers who supply over 90% of the labor on all Habitat houses are working with the future homeowners, Yvette and Jeyser, to build a safe, secure and affordable house that they can call their own. Jeyser and Yvette have spent years trying to make homeownership happen. For the last 8 years, they have been living with their 3 children ranging in age from 13-17 years of age. in a small bedroom apartment in West Haven. They applied for mortgages repeatedly, only to be denied or faced with costs that made it impossible to move forward. Now thanks to Habitat, Raise the Roof and all the volunteers who are working with Yvette and Jeyser, the American dream of homeownership is becoming a reality. What makes the home at 39 Arch Street special is that it’s the first for Habitat Greater New Haven to include a one-bedroom rental unit attached, offering the family extra stability and opportunity in the future.

We are looking for 10 volunteers to build on June 10th, on 39 Arch Street and this will be the Knights 23rd build day since 2013.
